Job Summary
In the division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, under the general supervision of the Chief Impact Officer and in consultation with the office of Strategic Communications, this position is responsible for development and execution of digital marketing, communications and social media strategies in support of UC Davis Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Plans, coordinates, and implements short- and long-range marketing and communications campaigns aligned with the strategic goals of the DEI division and central campus. Manages project timelines and conducts ongoing marketing and communications assessments. Maintains communication with department staff on priorities and provide regular project updates. Provides writing and editing assistance as needed. Provide oversight for content and distribution digital marketing materials. Provide strategic and tactical assistance in the development of promotional campaigns utilizing social media, email, and website marketing.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience managing projects successfully to completion in a highly collaborative environment.
Experience with communicating authentically across different constituencies with sensitivity and empathy to individual and group experiences.
Experience with social media in an organizational setting.
Demonstrated experience with e-newsletters and websites.
Knowledge of general topics and news related to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Ability to use, learn or adapt to a variety of technical office and communications tools and software (e.g. MS Office suite, Canva, Google office suite, Airtable, Box).
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management
Bachelor's degree in a communications, marketing, or media related field or 3+ years of professional experience in industry.
Experience working with freelance contractors, especially in creative work (e.g. designers, writers, PR firms) and managing student workers or interns.
Experience with or training on any of the following software: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Sitefarm, Airtable.
Demonstrated ability to navigate topics that may be polarizing through the use of depoliticized approaches and values-based talking points, while possessing a deep understanding of issues affecting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within higher education.
Key Responsibilities
30% - Events and Initiative Promotion
Develops, plans, and implements communications projects and activities using appropriate strategies for the target audience including but not limited to social media, website journeys, and email. Responds to basic inquiries from public or media. Collects data on the impact of DEI campaigns; conducts ongoing needs assessments for all events and initiatives and makes recommendations for achieving comms goals. Works with DEI teams to communicate their events and work broadly on campus. Supports DEI staff and affiliated groups (employee resources groups, administrative advisory committees, and other ad hoc DEI groups) on their campaigns, social media, and events promotion. Maintains positive working relationships with campus partners and community constituents. Stays abreast of trends and practices in marketing and communications. 30% - Project Management
Oversees project timelines for internal campaigns. Tracks and advances tasks, milestones, and deliverables. Checks the preparation of strategic communications materials for quality, accuracy, and adherence to university policies. Oversees content and events databases and proactively advances recurring projects as well as proposes new strategies and projects to meet campus needs and respond to evolving priorities. Develops project schedules, deadlines, and workflow systems. Identifies and recommends adjustments to projects as necessary. Maintains project and digital archives. Coordinates campaigns with other team members and interns, such as student social media specialists and student web and graphic designers.
30% - News and Writing
Serves as editor-in-chief and writer for the DEI Newsletter. Under general supervision, gathers information about and promotes DEI happenings across UC Davis and UCDH. Manages content and job intake from external sources. Helps write and update timely content for news and events.
10% - Media Support and Executive Communications
Provides social media, news, and website support for executive communications.
Position Information
Salary or Pay Range: $29.69/hr. - $52.20/hr. - This position is subject to a departmental budgeted salary range of: $29.69/hr. - $35.32/hr.
