Description:
The Program Coordinator (Preparedness and Prevention Compliance Coordinator) is responsible for assisting with the university's comprehensive preparedness and prevention compliance programs. The coordinator is integral to the planning, execution, monitoring and controlling of the annual and ongoing compliance lifecycles for multiple higher education safety, preparedness, and violence prevention programs, with a particular emphasis on ensuring adherence to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requirements. The coordinator maintains a network of stakeholders and partners within and external to the university to assure the application of best practice, growth of programs, and efficient coordination and collaboration for institutional compliance with the Illinois Campus Security Enhancement Act of 2008 (CSEA), and other relevant policies. This network includes university departments, local law enforcement agencies, violence prevention, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation, review, and publication of reports that include but are not limited to the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and the UIC Violence Prevention Plan.
Support project management initiatives on monthly, quarterly, semesterly, and annual cycles to assure ongoing compliance, thorough record-keeping, improvement planning, and continuous stakeholder engagement.
Gather records on campus crime prevention and security awareness programs, and other primary prevention and ongoing awareness programs for the prevention of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Send annual requests for crime statistics to all Clery Act Campus Security Authorities (mandatory crime reporters).
Assist with managing the Behavioral Threat Assessment Team (BTAT) activities.
Liaise with various Colleges and major Administrative Units to identify and maintain a list of all Campus Security Authorities for the institution for each academic year.
Develop and facilitate Campus Security Authority and violence prevention training and awareness programs with/for various campus stakeholders; develop, administer, and maintain e-learning courses using an online learning management system (LMS).
Work collaboratively with UICPD Crime Statistics Unit, Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Campus Housing, Title IX Coordinator, Office of Dean of Students, Wellness Center, Clery Act Liaisons, regional campus authorities and Campus Security Authorities to ensure policy, procedure, program, and data collection, consolidation, validation, and reporting.
Assist with marketing and communications initiatives, including the development of mobile applications, website and social media content, educational and marketing materials, policy briefs, video productions, and other paper and digital products.
Assist the Response and Recovery emergency management and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations, including planning, coordination, and execution of emergency response drills and real-time incident management.
Stays abreast of pending and final changes to the Clery Act, Violence Against Women Act, Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Drug-free Schools and Communities Act, Higher Education Opportunity Act, Higher Education Act, IL Campus Security Enhancement Act, IL Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, and other federal, state, or university laws or regulations affecting campus safety, campus preparedness, the Clery Act, and targeted violence prevention provisions. Stays abreast and assists the department on initiatives in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination compliance at the university-level and within the larger community.
Provide clerical and administrative assistance and support to OPR.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) experience higher education compliance, especially compliance related the requirements of the Clery Act, Higher Education Opportunity Act, Higher Education Act, Title IX, and IL Campus Security Enhancement Act of 2008 (or related targeted violence prevention laws/regulations). (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in public health, Emergency Preparedness, Public Administration, or related field preferred
