The University of Pittsburgh requests applications for the position of Assistant Director of Strategic Communications. The individual filling this position will be a member of the departmentâ™s media relations staff and report to the Director of Strategic Communications. Requirements include experience in a collegiate or professional media relations environment; outstanding oral and written communications skills; demonstrated organizational skills; and working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Microsoft Word, and NCAA Live Stats. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as the primary media contact for Gymnastics and Womenâ™s Soccer programs; producing media guides, game notes, news releases, and feature stories; generating feature content, video, and other unique coverage for PittsburghPanthers.com, the official website of Pitt Athletics; responding to media requests; staffing home and selected away events; supervising statistical crews and other event support personnel; facilitating Pittâ™s social media outlets; compiling statistics, researching historical records for Pitt department of athletics publications and assisting the media relations staff with additional duties. Additional content creation abilities via photography and videography are a plus.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of editorial duties (e.g., laying out, indexing, proofreading, and revising content of written materials) in preparation for final publication for multiple complex projects adhering to style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements. Prepares, rewrites, and edits copy for multiple moderately complex projects for internal and external publication. Oversees publication production and assists with prospective manuscript work. Identifies subjects, interviews sources, and writes articles.
Essential Functions
The individual will serve as the primary contact for the Gymnastics and Womenâ™s Soccer programs. This position will serve as a media liaison between the Athletic Department and local and national media representatives. The individual is responsible for facilitating the growth of Pittâ™s social media outlets and graphics efforts. Other duties as assigned.

Computer work, ability to travel, and attend meetings on and off campus. Required to be mobile for long periods of time, especially on gamedays.
