Job Summary Manage the Bhargava group's Chemical Imaging and Structure programs, including writing and submitting grants, editing and submitting scientific papers and organizing and managing scientific data, instruments, chemicals inventory, lab equipment, social media, website and lab processes. Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with writing and submitting grants using NIH eRA Commons, NSF FastLane, Research.gov and UIUC Sponsored Programs Administration forms, including drafting budget and budget justifications and projecting expenditures.
Edit scientific documents, including progress reports and papers, for clarity and content.
Review and submit papers to journals, ensuring that all journal instructions have been followed and details on funding are correct.
Manage lab processes, lab safety trainings/certifications and reporting to the Division of Research Safety (DRS), Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other Institutional Committees when needed as well as help manage external collaborations.
Organize and maintain data, files, grant records, scientific documents and group papers, including student data and material maintenance after graduation.
Onboard and offboard lab members.
Manage the lab's website using WordPress and HTML, social media accounts and reporting news to campus Communications and Department groups.
Coordinate group meeting schedule and lab members' presentations.
Additional Physical Demands
High-energy, fast-paced working environment where multi-tasking, re-prioritizing, dealing with last-minute requests/demands and tight deadlines, and the ability to handle change are key.
Interruptions are frequent.
Minimum Qualifications
Specialty Factors
Bachelor's degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in laboratory research.
Preferred Qualifications
Environmental health and safety training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to keep track of the physical locations of the instruments, chemicals and other lab equipment.
Ability to compile, organize and evaluate data.
Knowledge of lab equipment preparation and expediting lab procedures.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the posting period closes. The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000/year. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
