This versatile writer will focus on crafting compelling written content that aligns with the communications department’s goals and the NCAA's mission. This role collaborates with various internal departments, member institutions and external groups to identify and produce stories that highlight student-athlete achievements both on and off the field. Additionally, the position oversees the production of NCAA Weekly, a key communication tool for engaging administrators and stakeholders across all divisions. Responsibilities include creating strategic communications plans, contributing to content amplification through multiple channels and supporting governance meetings and national office initiatives. This role also aids in Salesforce-related and internal communication efforts.
Job Responsibilities
Develop written content that aligns with the communications department’s goals and advances the national office’s mission.
Collaborate with other NCAA departments, member schools, conferences and other affiliate groups to identify stories that align with the NCAA’s storytelling strategy, which includes highlighting student-athletes who excel athletically and academically, showcasing the diversity of the NCAA athlete community, and displaying how the college athletics experience benefits student-athletes at all levels of the Association.
Oversee NCAA Weekly, an administrator-focused newsletter that aims to inform key stakeholders at member schools and conferences across all three divisions on the latest NCAA news, resources and notable stories.
Work with other NCAA departments to create a robust NCAA Weekly calendar, creatively highlighting the national office’s value to the membership in a clear and concise medium.
Partner with other communications units to help increase the reach of written content, including via social media, search engine optimization and external media pitches.
Assist with development and implementation of communications plans for other national office initiatives supporting membership or staff.
Provide tactical communications assistance for governance meetings that impact student-athletes, member schools and conferences.
Contribute to Salesforce strategy by assisting with member or staff emails as needed.

Job Requirements
High school diploma. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum three years writing and/or editing experience preferred, especially within college athletics and higher education.
Finely tuned organizational and tactical skills.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications, including management of multiple tasks and deadlines.
Superior attention to detail.
Superior writing skills and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
Estimated Travel Required <10%
This position will be based out of the national office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Current work environment is hybrid; 3 days in the office and 2 days are remote.
