Job Summary:
The Department of Journalism, Broadcasting and Public Relations at SUNY Brockport seeks an energetic social media instructor who can teach a range of undergraduate courses in social media. This full-time, tenure-track position begins in Fall 2025. The faculty member's role involves teaching courses including Social Media Writing, Social Media Video, and Social Media Analytics. The faculty member will also be responsible for providing academic advisement. We particularly welcome applications from individuals belonging to historically underrepresented groups and/or who have experience working in diverse populations. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally accredited institution. Degree is required by the time of appointment.
Significant professional work experience in social media.
Proficiency with current social media analytics tools.
Ability and evidence of pursuing scholarship activities or continued professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the university level.
Willingness to mentor students.
Experience with curriculum improvement/development, including proficiency in developing social media courses designed to prepare students for careers in the industry.
Connected to a strong professional network within the social media industry, which could facilitate partnerships, internships, or job placement opportunities for students.
