Job Summary: The University of Alabama System is receiving applications for the position of Communications Specialist or Communications Manager. This position is based in Tuscaloosa in the University of Alabama System Office.
The Communications Specialist will assist with communications efforts to advance the University of Alabama System, including the development of high-impact, compelling content. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for System Communications, the Communications Specialist will implement communications plans, activities and tactics in support of the UA System's goals.
Responsibilities
- Support external and internal communications efforts to advance the University of Alabama System
- Coordinate and create compelling content, including news posts, social media and web copy and graphics, and manage content calendars
- Implement digital communications and social media strategy and manage related initiatives
- Through research, tracking and reporting, analyze metrics to optimize communications efforts
- Provide media monitoring updates and monitor industry news and trends to identify relevant opportunities
- Monitor usage of UA System brand to ensure brand alignment and consistency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or closely related field
- Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience with digital communications and social media
- Superb writing and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organization
- Graphic design experience preferred
