The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of ICAP?s Director for Communications and Content Strategy, the Communications Officer will play a role in the day-to-day operations of the New York Communications team by managing communications activities that effectively raise awareness of and increase support for ICAP. The Communications Officer will work with staff across ICAP?s New York City headquarters and its country offices abroad to help ensure ICAP?s mission, messages and accomplishments are communicated in creative and compelling ways to a wide variety of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop, produce, and project manage communications campaigns, activities and events ? 25%
Develop, write, and distribute communications materials promoting and reporting on ICAP projects, programs, and initiatives ? including briefs, success stories, news stories, and social media content ? 40%
Develop, guide, and provide oversight for project branding strategy, including appropriate ICAP, partner, and donor acknowledgment. 5%
Develop compelling content for key ICAP project websites and support the maintenance of content on these sites, as needed ? 15%
In collaboration with outside vendors and project teams, document key ICAP projects through photo and video and utilize this in project communications ? 5%
Assist project teams to promote key ICAP events, including webinars, workshops, and conferences ? 5%
Perform other related duties as assigned - 5%
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor?s degree in strategic communications, journalism, marketing, public policy, or a public health-related field or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, at least some of which preferably in an international development or public health organization.
Demonstrated experience in project management for communications.
Excellent writing, editorial, and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex operating environment and be proactive in tackling challenges.
Very strong ability to work both independently and as part of a large, multi-layered project team.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical/scientific language for the web and other audiences/platforms.
Previous experience maintaining project websites and conducting web analytics.
Strong presentation skills and ability to do basic graphic layout.
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency; ability to work effectively with teams based in different countries and time zones.
Fluency in English required
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of French is a plus.
