The multi-award-winning USC Dornsife Office of Communication, which includes specialists in news writing, media relations, graphic design, marketing, magazine and video production, is looking for a multimedia news director to join our team of marketing communication professionals. The position manages a digital media producer and reports to the senior associate dean for communication.
Our offices are located at the USC Tower in downtown Los Angeles but weâre currently working remotely, with periodic in-person get-togethers and campus visits.

Have a strong nose for news with a keen ability to identify timely and interesting stories
Closely collaborate with our editorial team to develop and share story ideas
Research, develop, write, edit, and shoot news and feature stories for USC News and our social media platforms that that are so compelling, viewers want to share them with their social network
Manage a digital media producer, who primarily shoots, edits and scores video footage
Field and screen requests for videos to promote academic programs, initiatives and events
Supervise production of videos to promote academic programs, initiatives and events to ensure videos achieve stated objectives
Manage and optimize the USC Dornsife YouTube channel, regularly reporting key metrics to leadership
Contribute to an inclusive work environment, building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in journalism or related field or comparable television work experience
At least 3 years of experience producing, shooting and reporting video news content
Passionate interest in news and current events
Experience reflecting diversity, equity and inclusion in content
Ability to independently, strategically, and creatively make decisions
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time-pressure deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to relate well with diverse populations and age groups
Receptive to feedback
Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from various locations with camera and lighting equipment.
Have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Have experience managing others
Have experience developing creative briefs for video projects and managing development of those projects to achieve the stated objectives
Have experience managing a YouTube channel, including optimizing pages and content, tracking and reporting metrics

Salary range: The annual base salary range for this position is $87,050 - $97,715. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidateâs work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
