Job Duties:
PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to support the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Provost for Equity and Diversity with work related to internal and external partnerships and committees, coordinating outreach and engagement programming, and disseminating information about the Office for Equity and Diversity and diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities at ECU.
This position is mission-critical to the institution and our commitment to serve as an access university, maximize student success, and transform our region by diversifying our university community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION AND EVENT MANAGEMENT
- Work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Provost for Equity and Diversity (CDO and AP) on programming for the Office for Equity and Diversity's (OED) Partners for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including existing and emerging partners in the UNC System
- Lead all logistical and communication aspects regarding the planning and execution of complex programs and events for OED's engagement and outreach initiatives
- Design, develop, and maintain database of faculty, staff, and students engaged in collaborative partner initiatives; track and report progress of each, including the progression of students awarded early assurance
- Research and generate new proposals for student cohort community-building activities and events
- Assist with grant applications and fund development to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives
- Assist the CDO and AP with partner relations by independently planning, coordinating, and managing in-person, virtual, or hybrid DEI special events
- Propose special event activities to achieve the strategic priorities; research the target audience/demographic and collaborate with the appropriate campus units when arranging all accommodations and venue needs
- Develop an annual budget and yearly schedule of special events, partnership activities, etc.
- Assess the effectiveness of assigned programs and special events
COMMUNICATION AND PROMOTION
- Collaborate with the Director of Special Projects to maintain and update OED's Website, blog, and comprehensive calendar with current information about events, news, and initiatives
- Create content for communication platforms, in accordance with institutional policies and standards
- Identify target audiences and partner with News Services, Creative Services, and ITCS to create graphics, releases, media, and other digital content to inform constituencies about OED initiatives, workgroups, and collaborative efforts, and the status of their progress
- Monitor and report Website and social media traffic, analytics, and keyword specific searches to optimize internal and external outreach
- Research and highlight OED and campus DEI initiatives, programs, events, and advancements across campus; post information in various communication vehicles
- Assess the effectiveness of OED's dissemination of information and propose new strategies to accomplish the unit's communication goals
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Work with the Director of Special Projects and, when applicable, University Advancement to – steward partners and potential donors through the handling of invitations, thank you notes, and gifts of appreciation
- Interface with and provide administrative support to DEI related university committees, commissions, and workgroups at the direction the CDO and AP; attend DEI related meetings, take minutes, draft agendas, share information, and keep a record of action items for accountability
