For more than 90 years, the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine has provided comprehensive medical training for medical students, residents and fellows in addition to lifelong learning opportunities for practicing physicians. The department consists of 19 specialty divisions based at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, which is ranked as one of America's Best Children's Hospitals in 10 out of 10 specialties in U.S. News and World Report .
The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine is one of the leading neonatology programs in the United States, providing neonatology faculty for seven clinical sites in central Indiana, including the Level IV neonatal intensive care unit at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis.
Neonatal-Perinatal services at Riley Hospital for Children has been ranked #4 in the nation by Parent's Magazine for Neonatal-Perinatal care and ranked 14th in the nation by US News and World Report for top hospitals by specialty. This team of specialty pediatricians cares for more than 3,000 patients each year.
Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at IU School of Medicine continues to grow, offering exciting new opportunities for clinical services, basic and translational research, and innovative educational programs.
Job Summary
General Responsibilities
Independently creates basic communications for print and e-distribution on behalf of department or functional area within department and in support of departmental goals and objectives; communications may be interdepartmental; staff, faculty, or student-focused; or external.
Responds to inquiries and requests and explains policies, procedures, and context of communications.
Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and creates communications coverage for relevant initiatives, events, and programs.
Prepares communications timelines and shares progress of communications toward relevant deadlines with manager, team members, and other relevant constituents.
Regularly monitors relevant social media and news sites; researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty.
Utilizes various communications software programs and delivers communications in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
Some experience in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and the department's business needs.
Advertised Salary
$45,000-$55,000 annually. Salary determination is based on experience, skill level, education, and training.
