UIC is seeking a Web Developer to join our CAA Technology team. This role will provide leadership in developing and executing coordinated web-based Drupal and WordPress infrastructure and designs for all units in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts (CADA). Provide technical expertise for web systems and equipment configurations. This includes the implementation and maintenance of web systems and software components, providing assistance in the development and assessment of components, recommending optimum configurations, and providing technical guidance with regard to methods, performance standards, security measures, and systems analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support/manage existing web-based infrastructure utilizing Drupal, WordPress and current web technologies JavaScript, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, SSL, Apache, among others.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to website functionality, performance, and usability.
Collaborate with other members of the development team to ensure the website meets organizational goals and is aligned with the overall digital strategy.
Maintain website and web servers with security updates, patching, optimizations, controlling memory utilizations, adding modules.
Develop and design new web-based applications for internal & external use.
Provide consultation and implementation of designs for new and existing web sites.
Assist with running Google Ads on all CADA websites.
Monitor web traffic for optimization and analysis. Utilize Google Analytics for data collection and analysis.
Create and maintain documentation for web infrastructure and applications, including standard operating procedures and user manuals.
Stay up to date with emerging web technologies and trends and recommend ways to incorporate these into the organization's web presence.
Work with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of web-based projects.
Participate in project planning, estimating, and scoping activities to ensure the timely and successful delivery of web-based projects.
Provide training to new staff and student workers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Development which includes demonstrated experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications, including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
1+ years of professional experience in IT Development / Web, including experience with Drupal and Wordpress websites.
Experience with front-end development technologies and methodologies.
Experience with responsive web design and mobile-first development.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
Experience with website performance optimization and website security best practices.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
