Summary of Duties:
The Communications Manager works with the Carson College of Business (CCB) Assistant Director of Communications, internal departments, college leadership, campus partners, college faculty and staff, and marketing team members to craft and edit comprehensive and integrated publicity and marketing campaigns for the CCB. The Communications Manager strives to increase awareness of the CCB's research, education, outreach efforts, as well as opportunities for private support, to a variety of audiences including alumni, donors, friends, faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, legislators, industry leaders, and the general public. This individual will need excellent project management, interviewing, and writing expertise and will play an essential role in content marketing.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing or other relevant field AND either two (2) years of professional experience in print OR broadcast news media, public relations, marketing including the use of electronic media or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience.
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and intercultural communications skills.
Experience executing strategic communication plans and complex communication projects.
Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment.
Ability to proactively identify and solve problems within projects.
Experience managing complex communications or marketing projects with multiple competing deadlines.
Demonstrated experience researching, writing and editing materials on a wide range of stories and content.
Experience writing news stories or press releases using Chicago style.
Knowledge of public relations, branding content marketing and social marketing principles.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Hootsuite and Excel programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Qualified applicants for this position will be team players, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and remain calm under pressure.
Demonstrated experience using social media platforms for a business or organization, including planning and publishing posts and using measurement tools to evaluate performance and adjust.
Experience using WordPress to create and edit pages.
Professional work experience in a higher education environment.
Experience with videography and script writing.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Site, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in the position description.
Knowledge of university policies and procedures or experience with a similar organizational structure.
Familiarity with principles of graphic design.
Familiarity with Washington State University brand identity.
Monthly Salary: $4,509 - $5,634.87. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, this salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
