Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Editorial Media Specialist I (Design) for the Office for Research. As writing is a main task in this position, the candidate must have demonstrated success as a creative storyteller with a natural curiosity for information and news. Successful candidates must have the ability to craft content that conveys value for various audiences and copy that is relatable and concise for digital media.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Creates, curates, edits, organizes and updates content for Research.rutgers.edu and other assigned websites and digital communication platforms (i.e. social media, intranet, etc.).
Works directly in our content management system and use other tools to create, update, and maintain webpages and produce content, including multimedia assets like stories, graphics, and video.
Recommends new content for research.rutgers.edu and its newsletters/bulletins and identify the best formats to deliver that content (i.e., video, animation, web banners, social media postings, etc.) to achieve desired goals.
Researches, writes, and edits original or submits web content, images, or other content types, as well as implementing supporting processes and procedures for staff, including content scheduling.
Builds and tests webpages for desired information architecture and organization.
Works closely with the web development team and contribute to web/digital communication strategies and discussions.
Coordinates and leads web project teams.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, editing, proofreading, publishing, organizational coordination, and/or facilitation.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in communications or marketing that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of website content development, management, and publishing.
