
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Media and Engagement at Stony Brook Medicine in the Marketing and Communications division, and working with the Office of the Executive Vice President and CEO, the successful candidate will be a creative, enthusiastic storyteller - strategizing and writing, working with the EVP of Health Sciences in the office and in the field, capturing social content as it happens or providing strategy and examples for him to iterate on his own. This individual will collaborate closely with other communications counterparts on events, news announcements, and more. They will have the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and have a track record of earning trust and delivering results while working with internal and external stakeholders.
This candidate is a self-starter and leader with meticulous attention to detail and the proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. They will be organized and motivated to invent, evolve, and activate complex content strategies across multiple channels.
Duties of a Manager, Executive Social Media may include the following but are not limited to:
- Set executive social media strategy and develop content that aligns with the goals outlined
- Work with Marketing and Comms and other Medicine, University and Health Sciences leaders to shape announcements, news, and priorities for social media
- Position the EVP as a thought leader in the industry and as a leader at Stony Brook, producing content that is both peer-focused and student-centric
- Continue to build the EVP's social media connections, actively engaging with Stony Brook students, physicians and staff, as well as industry leaders, media outlets and community partners as appropriate
- Support the social media presence of other Stony Brook Medicine executives and/or assist with additional social media-related items as needed, including backing up others on the integrated Marketing and Communications digital team.
- Translate the passion, personality and point-of-view of leadership into cohesive and compelling messaging and engagement.
- Accompany the CEO and leadership at meetings, events and appearances as necessary in support of content development for a range of social channels.
- Regularly present strategy, learnings, and recommendations to Senior Manager, Social Media and Engagement and others on the Marketing and Communications team
- Using shared tools and workflow, create social media assets, including photo, video, and audio content
- Produce social media metrics and reporting that is insightful and actionable, including executive summaries for leadership.
- Be a subject matter expert on all things social, inclusive of social listening and data insights
- Manage content calendars and workflow from conceptualization, to content creation, to posting, to monitoring and reporting
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Four years of experience as a social media strategist/content provider
- Demonstrated experience in all platform features within Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Portfolio of work demonstrating the ability to tell complex stories in relatable terms
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Mobile phone content creation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public relations or executive communications experience
- Industry knowledge in healthcare and sustainability
- Team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
- Creativity and bias for action
- Self-motivated individual requiring minimal direction, undeterred by off-hours requests

- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
