Position Information:The Senior Director of Gift Planning is a key role within the Office of Development's Principal and Gift Planning team, which focuses on cultivating relationships with high-capacity donors who can make transformative contributions to the campus. This expert professional will manage a portfolio of influential and highest-rated planned gift donor prospects, potentially including senior campus leadership. The position requires authority to make commitments and design gift planning programs inconjunct ion with the Senior Executive Director of Principal and Gift Planning, as well as supervision of other gift planning professionals. The Senior Director of Gift Planning reports to the Senior Executive Director of Principal and Gift Planning and is expected to meet established fundraising targets. Qualifications include an advanced degree, at least 7-10 years of gift planning experience, and a proven track record of securing major gifts and creation of innovative planned giving programs that educate, empower, and motivate new prospects to inquire about gift planning.

The full salary range for the Senior Director of Development, Gift Planning is $111,000 - $214,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Expert knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and/or throughout higher education/healthcare, generally. Expert knowledge of the location, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Expert level skills in maintaining confidentiality. Expert knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Expert organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. Expert project/program management skills, including skills in setting and meeting program/project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints. Expert written and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Expert skills in making persuasive and compelling
presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts. Strong sense of ethical conduct that inspires confidence and an ability to build trust that persuades colleagues and donor prospects toward action. Highly ethical, donor-centered outlook on gift planning, maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to sensitive donor relations issues while balancing the University's best interests. Proven experience in major and principal gift level solicitations, in blended gift strategy design and implementation, and in creative stewardship and recognition for legacy donors. Knowledgeable about federal and state legislation relative to charitable tax and gift planning; proven ability to maintain familiarity with applicable legislation and financial planning concepts. Ability to conceptualize, design, and implement a development program on time and on budget. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional skill in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing, about private gift fundraising in general and in particular as it applies to deferred gift fundraising.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders, and team members across University Advancement to achieve fundraising goals. Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment. Ability to use a dedicated relational donor database system.
