Position Summary Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for career advising and programming for UIC students, with a special focus on supporting students seeking internships and other pre-professional experiences as related to major and field of interest. Primary responsibilities include providing career development education and resources in a variety of formats, including individual sessions, workshops, panels, and programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide in-person, virtual, and phone individual career advising to assess interests, goals, values and skills for the purpose of guiding current students through the career, job search (e.g., resume, cover letter, networking, social media profiles, etc.), graduate school search, and major exploration process.
Coordinate communications and student support aspects of the Student Affairs Internship Program.
Offer career advising services to alumni and incoming students as necessary.
Plan, facilitate, and lead virtual and in-person, classroom, and group career workshops and panels focusing on a variety of career development topics.
Design new and innovative programs aimed at supporting students searching for internships, pre-professional experiences, job shadowing, and co-curricular experiences. Also design and deliver quality career related programs focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Develop and execute curriculum for the Internship Readiness Seminars.
Maintain close contact with employer relations and student employment in order to keep abreast of career development trends, opportunities for collaboration, and job prospects for students both on and off campus.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
