The Senior Associate Director of Digital Engagement serves as a partner to the Director of Communications, supporting Wharton External Affairs in all aspects of online engagement initiatives, and works in collaboration with partners throughout Wharton and DAR. This position is instrumental in managing strategic online communications and ensuring a seamless alumni experience across digital platforms.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities include:
Technology and Project Management
Help build strong technology transitions for Salesforce, ensuring smooth integrations with existing systems and alignment with organizational goals.
Oversee the Wharton clubs website platform, which encompasses 40+ global clubs, focusing on: long-term project planning and execution; complex negotiations with vendors, the privacy office, and OGC; partnering with the Global Clubs team on comprehensive consulting and training to club leaders to ensure they are making best use of this technology, alumni data, and representing the Wharton brand well.
Manage the digital engagement budget, ensuring efficient allocation and effective utilization of resources.
Communications and Marketing Strategy
Work in partnership with the Communications team to strengthen online communications across social media, alumni relations websites, and digital events.
Strategize and measure the effectiveness of digital marketing efforts, including paid and organic social media, texting campaigns, etc.
Alumni User Experience
Oversee the Wharton External Affairs Help Desk to ensure timely support and resolution of alumni inquiries.
Collaborate with data analytics teams to ensure that we are stewards of collecting and improving the quality of alumni data.
Share resources, tools, and benefits with alumni digitally, via events, and during presentations to help them maximize the value of their Wharton network and support.
Team Leadership and Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Directly manage an Associate Director, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance oversight.
Cultivate influence and build alliances across Wharton and the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team to promote a consistent and high-standard alumni experience.
Strategic Direction and Innovation
Lead and execute digital projects related to technology and alumni experience, ensuring alignment with Wharton's strategic goals.
Partner with Wharton External Affairs stakeholders to provide innovative and scalable solutions for future alumni engagement initiatives.
Job Location - City, State Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
3 to 5 years experience in alumni relations, communications, or development with extensive project management experience is highly desired.
Candidate must demonstrate a high level of comfort with technology and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms.
Ability to understand a senior business community, and communicate and market instructions, resources, and other materials to those constituents is critical to this role.
Advanced presentation, project management, and communication skills are highly desired, as well as experience in serving volunteer organizations and understanding of volunteer perspective.
Must be proactive, strategic, detail-oriented, pragmatic, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Understanding of international cultures and heightened diplomacy skills; confidence and maturity to work with senior business alumni and faculty. Exceptional collaboration, leadership, and conflict resolution skills required.
Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel both domestically and internationally.
A valid driver's license and passport are required.

Pay Range $61,046.00 - $113,435.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
