Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Teach public relations and strategic communication courses. The incumbent would be expected to primarily teach courses in public relations at the undergraduate level and strategic communication at the graduate level. Dependent upon the incumbent's skills, secondary teaching responsibilities may include teaching courses in the core Mass Communication curriculum.
Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
Serve as Director of the department's graduate program: Master of Arts in Strategic Communication.
The incumbent would be expected to market and promote the graduate program, recruit, and advise potential, new and existing graduate students, recommend program policies and procedures, and other administrative tasks related to the graduate program.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate or terminal degree in Mass Communication, Strategic Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Media Studies or a closely related field.\
3+ years professional public relations or strategic communication experience. Such experience could include, but is not necessarily limited to, promotional research, project/campaign design, development of promotional materials, implementation, evaluation and revision of projects and campaigns. Strongest candidates will also have direct experience with the integration of online, digital and social media into the framework of today's strategic communication activities.
Demonstrated successful teaching of strategic communication at the college level.
