Organizational Unit Overview The School of Communication serves nearly 1,000 undergraduate students in four major-sequences, Interpersonal/Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, and Journalism. Job Duties This is a fixed-term faculty position whose duties require the ability to teach in the following areas: media writing/reporting, sports journalism, news videography and non-linear editing using professional video editing software (Edius, Final Cut, Adobe Premier or Avid). Experience in, or ability to use, ENPS or similar newsroom software, basic studio TV production hardware. The ideal candidate would have worked as a multimedia journalist (MMJ) in a local television news station in a small or medium market and have experience and interest in sports reporting, and the ability to teach writing skills.
Courses will be primarily face-to-face, but the candidate may be called upon to teach online courses as well. All faculty members are also expected to provide service to the university and profession.
Minimum Education/Experience Master’s degree in the field of communication or closely related field; e.g., Journalism, Communication Management & Strategic Communication; Digital Communication, from an appropriately accredited institution, teaching experience, and significant professional experience are required.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Knowledge of emerging media technologies is a plus. Two years of teaching experience preferred, but entry level teachers will be considered if professional qualifications are strong and teaching ability can be demonstrated.
