This position report to the Dean of Hobby School of Public Affairs.
Responsible for the development and coordination of internal and external relations, constituent and community engagement, brand development, marketing, awareness of the college, and communications for the Hobby School of Public Affairs. Directs comprehensive external relations, community engagement, communications and marketing strategies and programs, and serves as primary media contact for local, national and international news organizations. Interfaces with local government officials, industry executives, and leaders of non-profits.
Develops and manages a comprehensive external relations program, including launching public service and outward facing initiatives and strategies, managing a communications, messaging and media relations program to raise the college's visibility (locally, regionally, nationally and internationally).
Fosters and enhances relationships with stakeholders, influencers, community leaders, and constituent groups to increase awareness of the college's vision, mission, goals and community impact.
Serves as the colleges primary media contact for news organizations and advises senior administration, faculty and staff in all areas involving media and other external relations vehicles.
Builds and maintains relationships with campus and community media representatives to ensure consistent and accurate media coverage for the college.
Cultivates partnerships to create and implement innovative marketing and communication strategies.
Manages all electronic content for college website including social media and other electronic communications.
Directs special events, especially as related to the Dean's fundraising activities.
Reviews, edits and authorizes copy, and oversees design work on college publications.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
Bachelors and 5 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

Demostrated knowledge of current social media platforms and interactive marketing.
Experience working with a diverse client base.
The ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
