About the Center:

The Center's mission is to serve as a catalyst for human well-being. Initiated in 2009, the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being (CWB) is an interdisciplinary teaching and research center at George Mason University. The Center's activities are organized around three primary areas: academic coursework and student learning initiatives; public educational programs (conferences, workshops, certificates, executive education); and research and scholarly activities.

About the Position:

The Communications and Marketing Assistant will support the mission of the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being by working on a variety of communications for Mason students, Mason employees, and external audiences. The position reports to CWB's Communications Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with website content (such as posting events and updating pages);
• Assisting with marketing the center's programs and events;
• Producing and editing videos;
• Helping to produce social media posts for Instagram and other channels;
• Creating graphic images for the center's events and programs;
• Representing and promoting the center at Mason events as needed;
• Serving on the marketing committee for the Mason Chooses Kindness initiative;
• Performing administrative duties (such as marketing and analytics reports, and email database updates) as needed.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with, and enthusiasm to learn more about, diverse types of communications (such as websites, social media, newsletters, graphics, and videos);
• Experience with WordPress, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Constant Contact, and Canva;
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
• Desire to both inform and inspire audiences using creative promotional materials and messages;
• Ability to relate well to people from diverse backgrounds; strong interpersonal skills;
• Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated;
• Ability to work both independently and interdependently.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in the science and applications of well-being.

Salary: $15 to $20 per hour
