The AI Group is the central engineering group responsible for driving Machine Learning (ML) adoption at Bloomberg, with 200 researchers and engineers working together to provide clients with the best-in-class news, research, market data, and analytics using state of the art machine learning technology We directly impact a wide variety of Bloomberg's flagship products, including news, research, pricing, our communications platforms and search and discovery tools. We work on a variety of ML disciplines, including natural language processing, information retrieval, time series analysis, and recommender systems.

Our team works closely with the CTO office to build our internal Data Science Platform to support all stages of the Model Development Life Cycle at Bloomberg. We build the infrastructure and tools to enable Bloomberg's machine learning engineers to explore their data, experiment with ideas, promote their models to production, and monitor them. We focus on building out the ML user workflow and common machine learning services.

Our team is tight-knit and collaborative; we care deeply about our product and users. We choose the right tool for the job, and we leverage many open-source projects. Our tech stack relies heavily on various open-source technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, Spark, Flask, React, Postgres and Kafka, to name a few. We also contribute back to the open-source community.

Who are you?
You're a curious and talented web developer who enjoys designing and building user friendly web UIs as well as middle layer APIs and is driven to always improve the product. You care about stability and testing. You enjoy working with a friendly and diverse team which cares about building tools and infrastructure to make data science and machine learning easier at Bloomberg. You're excited to work with machine learning engineers and gain exposure to the field.

We'll trust you to:

• Take ownership of the web frontend (React-based) for the Data Science Platform
• Collaborate with product owners to understand and synthesize requirements
• Design intuitive and efficient screens and workflows
• Write, test and maintain production quality code

You'll need to have:

• 4+ years of experience in modern frontend technologies (NodeJS, ReactJS, VueJS, HTML, CSS, Typescript, etc.)
• A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
• Prior contributions to system design and architecture and scaling fault-tolerant, distributed systems
• Honest approach to problem-solving, and ability to collaborate with peers, stakeholders and management

We'd love to see:

• Prior experience with Kubernetes, Docker or other container technologies
• Skilled in Python, Flask/FastAPI, GQL, golang
• Willingness to learn new technologies

Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
