The Cornell Center for Veterinary Business and Entrepreneurship (CVBE) seeks a talented individual to assist the team with launching a new career support services portfolio catering to the needs of veterinary students at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). In this position, you will provide an opportunity to support students through one-on-one career advising and group coaching, resource development and management, cultivation of creative collaborations across the college and university, and strengthening external networks.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide career advising and coaching for veterinary students through individual consultations, group workshops/panels, and facilitating connections with off-campus partners.
Curate and develop resources to support career planning and partner with faculty career pathway advisors to optimize student navigation of educational opportunities.
Collaborate with college and university partners to contribute to curricular and co-curricular activities to prepare students for post-graduation employment.
Nurture external relationships to expand mentorship and employment opportunities for students and monitor employment trends to inform strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization capabilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving, and decision making.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with individuals across numerous units within the college and university.
Knowledge of career services resources and job search strategies.
Knowledgeable of current computer systems, software applications, social media, and database management tools and willingness to learn new tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in Counselor Education (CACREP accredited), Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or other relevant field is preferred.
Experience working with graduate or professional students and alumni populations in a student services setting.
Experience in career resources, training, and conducting student workshops and professional presentations.
Familiarity with evolving trends in the veterinary profession and careers in veterinary medicine.
Individuals with a professional degree and job experience relevant to the position responsibilities, such as recruiting and mentorship, are welcome to apply.
Important Details about the Position
This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
This is a full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance.
We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
